Professor Curd Bollen

Prof. Dr. Curd Bollen obtained his dental degree (1992), Master’s degree in Periodontology and Implantology (1997), and PhD (1996) at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium). He subsequently completed three postgraduate certificates at internationally renowned institutions: the University of the Pacific (USA – 2016 – Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry), Harvard University (USA – 2023 – Health & Wellness: Nutrition), and Cardiff University – Bond Solon (UK – 2026 – Expert Witness).
He currently serves part-time as Professor of Periodontology at Yerevan State Medical University (Armenia) and as Research Professor at the D.U. Patil University (Pune, India). Before he worked as part-time professor at the different universities in the UK, Iraq, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium.
Prof. Bollen is a Specialist Periodontist and Implantologist, licensed in both Belgium and the United Kingdom with over 27 years of clinical experience. He has placed more than 12,000 implants (of which 2,000 are ceramic–zirconia implants) and focuses on the use of ultra-short implants, bone augmentation and concentrated growth factors (LPRF) in periodontology and implant dentistry.
Since 2026, he has also been officially recognised as an Expert Witness in the UK, where he serves as a legal expert in periodontology and implant dentistry. He is a member of the British Medical Experts and the Expert Witness Institute.
He has authored or co-authored more than 70 scientific publications in international peer-reviewed dental journals and more than 25 in national journals. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Dental Health, Oral Disorders & Therapy, the Journal of Dental Reports, and the Journal of Clinical Practice & Medical Case Reports. He is the author or co-author of 9 books or chapters in books.
Internationally recognised as a speaker and researcher, Prof. Bollen lectures extensively on ceramic dental implants, ultra-short dental implants, and concentrated growth factors and the impact of periodontitis on systemic health.
He is ambassador for the CleanImplant Foundation.
In 1996, he received the first Smith-Kline Beecham price in Odonto-Stomatology in Belgium. In 1997, he won the 2nd price at the EFP-Europerio Research Competition. And in 2025, he was awarded with a BAFA Award (Business Association Franco Armenienne) for his contribution to Dental Education in Armenia.
