The Level 7 Diploma in Dental Implantology delivers comprehensive training in both surgical and prosthodontic implant techniques, covering occlusion, treatment planning, and hard and soft tissue surgery. Designed for dentists looking to expand their capability across simple to complex implant cases, the Diploma integrates the Level 7 Certificate in Restorative Dentistry, the Level 7 Certificate in Dental Implantology, and the Level 7 Certificate in Advanced Dental Implantology into one structured postgraduate pathway.
Structure and learning experience
The diploma is delivered as a flexible three-stage pathway that allows dentists to build skills while continuing clinical work. Year 1 covers live-patient implant training through the Level 7 Certificate in Dental Implantology, Year 2 strengthens core restorative principles through the Level 7 Certificate in Restorative Dentistry, and Year 3 advances into complex implant cases via the Advanced Implant programme, combining online theory with mentored implant placement. Each stage builds on the last, ensuring delegates develop strong surgical, restorative and treatment-planning competence alongside supervised real-world case experience.
Clinical focus and outcomes
A central pillar of the course is predictable implant treatment, taught as the foundation of long-term surgical and prosthodontic success and reinforced throughout each stage of the pathway. Training spans patient assessment and selection, advanced treatment planning, occlusion, hard and soft tissue surgical techniques, and the restoration of straightforward to complex implant cases, all approached through an evidence-based clinical framework. Guided by Professor Paul Tipton and a senior implant faculty, delegates graduate with stronger surgical competence, improved predictability in real patient cases and the confidence to deliver comprehensive implant care. Level 7 Certificate
To achieve the Level 7 Diploma in Dental Implantology, delegates complete a structured programme of assessments including clinical case portfolios, reflective documentation, treatment planning exercises and formal examinations designed to demonstrate surgical and prosthodontic competence.
On successful completion of the course and all required assessments, delegates are awarded the Level 7 Diploma in Dental Implantology, the Level 7 Diploma in Implant Prosthodontics and the Level 7 Certificate in Restorative Dentistry, all accredited by EduQual and recognised by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Tipton Training’s implant programmes are the only Level 7 implant qualifications with RCSEng accreditation — an award recognising excellence in surgery-related education — and exceed both GDC and College of General Dentistry guidelines for implant mentoring.
Delegates who complete only the online modules of the Advanced Implant year are awarded a Diploma in Implant Science (Dip Imp Sci).
