Overview
The Certificate in Restorative Dentistry is a 1-year advanced course designed for dentists who want to strengthen their clinical foundations and expand their restorative capabilities. Accredited by EduQual and the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the course combines evidence-based theory, practical hands-on training and real-world communication and business skills. Delegates develop the confidence and expertise to deliver predictable, high-quality restorative outcomes, improve treatment planning and build a stronger long-term career in modern dentistry.
Structure and learning experience
The course is delivered through a flexible blended format that allows practising dentists to upskill while maintaining their clinical commitments. Across 12 months, delegates complete 15 modules supported by 11 in-person training days focused on seminars and practical workshops, alongside 4 live interactive Zoom sessions. Participants also receive ongoing access to a comprehensive digital learning library that includes reading materials, on-demand webinars and clinical demonstration videos, ensuring continuous reinforcement of knowledge between teaching sessions
Clinical focus and outcomes
A central pillar of the course is Occlusion, taught as the foundation of restorative success and revisited throughout multiple modules. Training extends into articulators, TMD splint therapy, tooth preparation, advanced treatment planning, adhesion, composite restorations and porcelain veneers, all approached from an occlusal perspective. Guided by Professor Paul Tipton and a senior faculty of experienced clinicians, delegates graduate with stronger technical ability, improved predictability in complex cases and the confidence to offer a broader range of restorative solutions. The result is measurable progress in clinical performance, patient outcomes and professional standing in an increasingly competitive dental landscape.
Higher precision in tooth preparation and adhesion
Increased confidence managing challenging cases
Stronger control of composite and porcelain restorations
Recognised Level 7 postgraduate qualification

Restorative, Manchester, 2018-2019
Without a doubt the best investment I've made throughout my dental career. The increase in level of knowledge regards dentistry, how occlusion is intrinsically linked to the success of our dental procedures have been massive. Being able to undertake large complex cases with confidence having been taught the principles involved has made my everyday dentistry so much more enjoyable. My patients are already benefiting from the improvement in my skills and I look forward to growing my experience further over the coming years.

Restorative, Manchester, 2022-2023
The Restorative course is ESSENTIAL for any Dentist looking to offer their patients the best possible level of care. During my time on the course, I left the NHS and am happily working in a fully private practice. The course has given me the knowledge and confidence to take on more complex cases and ultimately ENJOY my work more. I owe a huge thanks to the tutors and the nursing staff for their expertise, patience, and guidance.
