Overview

This 5-day course is specifically tailored for Dental Therapists and International Dental Graduates who are registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) and practising in the UK. It provides essential knowledge and practical skills to support excellence within the dental therapist scope of practice—especially within NHS systems—by aligning with the latest professional standards and clinical expectations.

Structure and learning experience

This course combines face-to-face clinical training on two weekends with one online learning day (date TBC). Each module blends evidence-based theory with practical demonstrations and real-world clinical insights, helping you integrate new techniques and regulatory understanding into your daily practice.

Clinical focus and outcomes

By the end of the course, you will have developed practical capability and confidence in safe and effective local anaesthesia techniques and pain management, comprehensive restorative dentistry principles covering both amalgam and composite, and the delivery of aesthetic anterior and posterior composite restorations. You will also strengthen your approach to paediatric dentistry, including behaviour management and key clinical procedures, and gain the knowledge required for prescribing and administering local anaesthetics and antimicrobials under Section 17 exemption.

Qualification Details

This programme provides 27 hours of verifiable accredited continuous professional development through a combination of practical and theoretical learning delivered within the modules. The course is accredited by Tipton Training and endorsed by The Royal College of Surgeons of England.
